SHEEPSHEAD MINNOW Cyprinodon variegatus Lacepede, 1803
DISTRIBUTION AND ABUNDANCE: Native. Cape Cod is the northernmost
part of the specie's range. In Massachusetts, sheepshead minnow
seldom move beyond the influence of the tide where they are common
on the south shore of Cape Cod, in areas along the Elizabeth
Islands, and on Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. There are no
records from the Gulf of Maine north of Cape Cod.
