BAY ANCHOVY Anchoa mitchilli (Valenciennes, 1848)
DISTRIBUTION AND ABUNDANCE: Native. In Massachusetts, this anchovy
periodically enters many of the estuaries on the south side of Cape Cod in small numbers. During their visits to the upper estuaries
they occasionally enter freshwater; usually during the late summer
and early fall. It is rare north of Cape Cod.
