My main interest is in the analysis of marine benthic communities and their responses to environmental disturbance. I have previously worked with Dr. Ruth Turner in her analysis of the benthic fauna of deep-sea wood islands and have published a population study of a deep-sea bivalve mollusc, Idas argenteus Jeffreys. My main research efforts have been in the analysis of community structure of the benthos of the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Currently I am analyzing three years of benthic data collected by Dr. Jose Vargas from a mudflat on Punta Morales, Costa Rica, and have also initiated further studies in a Costa Rican anoxic basin, Golfo Dulce. As part of this community analysis I am also characterizing the polychaete fauna of the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, both subtidal and intertidal.
