TITLE: Assistant Preparator

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare Mammal specimens as skins and skeletons
  • Maintenance of preparation facility
  • Use and maintenance of Dermestid beetle colony
  • Assist with curation of fluid collection and cetacean collection
  • Keep track and reorder supplies
  • May have to transport specimens between Cambridge and Bedford

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Background in biology
  • Dissection experience
  • Ability to work unsupervised (Will work alone 2-3 days/week).
  • Must be motivated
  • Must be able to work in Bedford, MA daily.
  • Must have rabies vaccination series 30 days prior to start.
  • Must be detail orientated.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience preparing museum quality specimens
  • Knowledge of Mammalian anatomy
  • Good observational skills

 

SALARY:

  • $10 – 12 per hour dependent on experience
  • 35 hours per week (full time) for 12 weeks between June and August 2007
