TITLE: Assistant Preparator
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare Mammal specimens as skins and skeletons
- Maintenance of preparation facility
- Use and maintenance of Dermestid beetle colony
- Assist with curation of fluid collection and cetacean collection
- Keep track and reorder supplies
- May have to transport specimens between Cambridge and Bedford
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Background in biology
- Dissection experience
- Ability to work unsupervised (Will work alone 2-3 days/week).
- Must be motivated
- Must be able to work in Bedford, MA daily.
- Must have rabies vaccination series 30 days prior to start.
- Must be detail orientated.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience preparing museum quality specimens
- Knowledge of Mammalian anatomy
- Good observational skills
SALARY:
- $10 – 12 per hour dependent on experience
- 35 hours per week (full time) for 12 weeks between June and August 2007
- No benefits, No paid vacation
