Introduction

Located in the Museum of Comparative Zoology (Harvard University),the Department of Mollusks contains the largest and most diverse collection of mollusks in a private institution in the world. The collection includes some 5,000 primary type lots among over 300,000 catalogued lots, as well as an approximately equal number of uncatalogued lots. In addition to the collection, holdings include over 20,000 reprints in malacology and related topics, as well as an extensive library of books, rare books and journals in malacology.
