Walking with Dimetrodons: reconstructing the evolution of locomotion in mammalian ancestors

The origin of modern mammalian stance and gait is a major unsolved question in evolutionary biomechanics. In this talk I will summarize recent progress on addressing this question, synthesizing fossil and anatomical data with biomechanical modeling and computer simulation to reconstruct the history of locomotor evolution in the ancient ancestors of mammals.
