## Getting the Dirt on Velvet Worms: Uncovering Species Diversity and Distributions

[Arianna Lord](/people/arianna-lord)
Graduate Student
Gonzalo Giribet Lab

Velvet worms encompass a cryptic diversity that remains largely unexplored with only around 200 species currently recognized within the phylum. In this seminar, I will share my research on the genus *Ooperipatellus* which is found in Australia and New Zealand and summarize how SNP-based species delimitation approaches and ecological niche modeling can offer insights into the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of this enigmatic group.
