 

#  New initiative to CT scan 20,000 museum specimens

 The MCZ joins 15 other museums and institutional collections in a four-year effort to image 20,000 vertebrate species with high-resolution microcomputed tomography (µCT). The [oVert](http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2017/08/new-3d-scanning-campaign-will-reveal-20000-animals-stunning-detail) project is funded by a $2.5 million grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation and led by former MCZ graduate student David Blackburn ([Hanken lab](https://hankenlab.oeb.harvard.edu/)).
