#  A new light on the evolution of the snake body plan

A new paper co-authored by MCZ Postdoctoral Fellow [Tiago R. Simões](https://tiago-simoes.com/) (in the Stephanie Pierce Lab) describes snake fossils recently excavated in Argentina, helping to answer long-standing questions regarding the early evolution of snakes. The paper was published in [Science](https://advances.sciencemag.org/content/5/11/eaax5833) and featured in the [New York Times](https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/20/science/snakes-legs-fossil.html).
