Twenty specimens of tanagers — one male and one female from each of 10 different species or subspecies — in our ornithology collection were studied to investigate the connection between vibrant feathers and diet and overall health. The research was [published in Scientific Reports](https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-88106-w) and featured in the [New York Times](https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/21/science/birds-tanagers-mating-color.html).
