Henry completed his BSc. and MSc. at the University of Alberta, with undergraduate research on the growth and evolution of duck-billed dinosaurs, and a Master's thesis supervised by Michael Caldwell describing the anatomy and reproductive biology of mosasaurs from Belgium. His doctoral work focuses on the evolution of herbivorous tetrapods, and the biomechanical adaptations associated with this major ecological transition.
