Maya graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2020 with a B.S. in Biology. During her time at UK, she worked in the lab of Dr. Catherine Linnen studying variation in coloration patterns of the redheaded pine sawfly, *Neodiprion lecontei*. Maya is interested in understanding the genetic basis of adaptation, the role of mutation in adaptation, and how genome structure affects adaptation.
